Setting Module Permissions

PageA page on a DNN site. Editors, Administrators and SuperUsers can configure access to view, edit and manage module content by roles and/or usernames. Permission can be granted or denied for a role or for an individual user. Additional permission options are available on some modules such as Events and Feedback. The following module permissions available in DNN Platform:

  1. Go to the module.
  2. Select  Manage >  Settings from the module actions menu.
  3. Select the Permissions tab.
  4. Optional. To remove all permissions for a user or role, click the Delete button in the Actions column.
  5. Optional. To only modify permissions for roles and users that are already displayed on the page, skip to from Step 8.
  6. Optional. To set permissions for a user that isn't displayed, enter their display name into the Username text box and click the Add button. Repeat to add additional users.
  7. Optional. To set permissions for a role that isn't displayed, select one of the following options from the FilterThe ability to limit the potential results that will be returned, searched or filtered. By Group drop down list, choose a role from the Select Role drop down list and then click the Add button:

  9. In the View ModuleDNN uses a modular design system to display content on a page. One or more modules are added to each site page to create and manage the site content. There are many different types of modules, each managing a different type of site content or site administrative tasks. column, click on the check box beside a role/username repeatedly until the correct permission is displayed. The following options are available:

There are many different types of modules, each managing a different type of site content or site administrative tasks. column, click on the check box beside a role/username repeatedly until the correct permission is displayed.   11. Click the Update button.

In the below example, module viewing permissions are inherited from the page and permission to edit the module has been granted to all users within the Marketing role with the exception of the user Elizabeth Dunn who has been denied editing rights.
